Our Story

Born in the Bayou.
Built for the Future.

Delta AgroFiber Solutions was founded on a conviction that agriculture can lead the charge in sustainability. Led by CEO Shawn Ledig — structural engineer, regenerative agriculture advocate, and American South entrepreneur — we became Louisiana's first company to successfully grow, harvest, and process USDA-compliant industrial hemp for fiber and bioplastics.

What began as a bold idea to reclaim underutilised farmland has grown into a pioneering operation transforming Louisiana's agricultural landscape through innovation, collaboration, and grit.

2020
First harvest. Louisiana's first commercial industrial hemp crop, grown from certified seed on reclaimed farmland in St. Tammany Parish.
2022
Seed to structure. First Louisiana company to process hemp from field through to fibre, hurd, and structural material outputs.
2024
Good Delta Biochar. Launch of premium carbon-negative biochar product from sustainable Louisiana hardwood and hemp feedstocks.
2026
Scaling the Delta. Expanding farmer partnerships, carbon credit programmes, and hempcrete construction supply across the American South.

Why Industrial Hemp

The Numbers That
Change the Conversation.

More Fibre Per Acre Than Trees
Industrial hemp produces four times the usable fibre per acre compared to timber. A single growing season. No replanting cycle measured in decades.
95%
Less Water Than Cotton
Hemp requires a fraction of the water demand of conventional cotton agriculture — critical for sustainable production in an era of increasing climate pressure on water resources.
−CO₂
Carbon Negative as It Grows
Hemp sequesters carbon as it grows and locks it into biochar, hempcrete, and fibre products for decades. It does not just stop emitting — it actively removes carbon from the atmosphere.
100+
Industrial Applications
From construction materials and automotive composites to bioplastics, biofuels, textiles, and nutraceuticals — one crop displaces petroleum-based inputs across dozens of industries simultaneously.
Supporting Louisiana Farmers

From Seed to Sale.
We Are With You.

01
Agronomic Consulting
Expert guidance on hemp cultivation in Louisiana's American South conditions. Cultivar selection, planting schedules, soil preparation, and crop management from Delta's team and partners.
02
Crop Purchase Agreements
Guaranteed buyback contracts for hemp fibre, hurd, and biomass. Growers in the Delta programme have a reliable market for their harvest before a seed goes in the ground.
03
Soil Testing and Improvement
Precision soil analysis and targeted amendment programmes including Delta's own agricultural lime and biochar — building the soil biology that supports yields season after season.
04
Carbon Credit Structuring
Delta structures and administers verified carbon credit programmes for participating farmers — creating a new revenue stream on top of crop income for growers adopting regenerative practices.
05
Harvest and Processing Support
Hands-on support through harvest logistics, field-to-facility transport, and processing standards — ensuring every crop meets specification from the moment it is cut.
06
Research and Development
Partnership with colleges, universities, and industry to advance hemp science in the American South — developing new cultivars, processing techniques, and market applications specific to Louisiana conditions.
Why Louisiana
"What began as a bold idea to reclaim underutilised farmland has grown into a pioneering company transforming Louisiana's agricultural landscape. Every acre we plant is a step toward healthier soil, cleaner air, and a more resilient future."
