Our Story

Louisiana
Built This.

Delta AgroFiber Solutions was built on a conviction that agriculture can lead the charge in sustainability — and that Louisiana's land, climate, and people are uniquely positioned to make that happen.

The Founder

Engineer. Farmer.
Pioneer.

Shawn Ledig is a structural engineer, regenerative agriculture advocate, and serial entrepreneur with deep roots in American South construction and environmental solutions. He founded Delta AgroFiber Solutions on the belief that the crops growing in Louisiana's fields hold the key to solving some of the most pressing material and environmental challenges of our time.

With decades of experience leading multimillion-dollar infrastructure and engineering projects across the American South, Shawn earned a reputation for solving complex environmental challenges through innovation rather than convention. When the 2018 Federal Farm Bill opened the door to commercial industrial hemp production, he saw an opportunity that Louisiana's agricultural community was uniquely positioned to seize.

Under his leadership, Delta became the first company in Louisiana to successfully grow, harvest, and process USDA-compliant non-consumable industrial hemp — taking the crop from certified seed all the way through to fibre, hurd, and structural material outputs. That milestone established not just a business but a proof of concept for what the American South can do with this extraordinary plant.

How We Got Here

The Delta
Journey.

2018
The Farm Bill Opens the Door
The 2018 Federal Farm Bill legalises commercial industrial hemp production across the United States for the first time in nearly a century. Shawn Ledig identifies the opportunity for Louisiana agriculture and begins planning Delta AgroFiber Solutions.
2020
Louisiana's First Commercial Hemp Harvest
Delta plants Louisiana's first commercial industrial hemp crop on reclaimed farmland in St. Tammany Parish. The successful harvest demonstrates that American South climate and soil conditions can support viable hemp cultivation at commercial scale.
2022
Seed to Structure — A Louisiana First
Delta becomes the first company in Louisiana to process industrial hemp through the full value chain — from certified seed in the ground to fibre, hurd, and structural material outputs ready for industrial application. A milestone for the entire American South hemp industry.
2023
Carbon Credit Programme Launch
Delta structures Louisiana's first hemp-linked carbon credit programme, creating a new income stream for participating farmers adopting regenerative practices and building the infrastructure for verified carbon sequestration at scale.
2024
Good Delta Biochar Development
Delta develops its premium carbon-negative biochar product using EPA-compliant clean pyrolysis technology with sustainably sourced Louisiana hardwood, pine, and industrial hemp feedstock.
2026
Scaling the American South
Delta expands farmer partnership programmes across Louisiana, advances hempcrete construction supply chains, and positions the company for the next phase of growth as America's industrial hemp market matures.
What Drives Us

Built on
More Than Profit.

🌾
Farmers First
Every decision Delta makes starts with one question — does this work for Louisiana's growers? Guaranteed purchase contracts, agronomic support, and fair pricing are not marketing language. They are the operating principles of the business.
🌍
Carbon Negative by Design
Delta does not treat sustainability as a compliance exercise. Every product, every process, and every farmer partnership is designed to remove more carbon from the atmosphere than it produces.
🔬
Science Over Shortcuts
Shawn's engineering background drives a culture of rigour at Delta. Cultivar selection is backed by trial data. Carbon credit programmes are independently verified. Products are tested to specification before they leave Louisiana.
🤝
Community as Infrastructure
Delta is building a model where the economic benefits of industrial hemp stay in Louisiana, in rural communities, and in the hands of the farmers who grow it.
Grit and Innovation
Being first in Louisiana meant solving problems nobody in the state had solved before. That culture of finding a way where no playbook exists is embedded in how Delta operates.
🏗️
Built to Last
Shawn brought 30 years of infrastructure development discipline to Delta. The company is building the physical and commercial infrastructure for a multi-decade industrial hemp economy in the American South.
A Louisiana First

The Land We
Work With.

Delta operates in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana — one of the most ecologically rich and agriculturally diverse regions in the American South. Our proximity to Louisiana's farming communities, waterways, and transportation infrastructure gives us direct access to the feedstock, the markets, and the people this operation is built for.

Louisiana's climate — long growing seasons, high humidity, and the deep alluvial soils of the Mississippi Delta region — creates conditions that are highly favourable for industrial hemp cultivation. Delta has spent years developing the cultivar selection, agronomic knowledge, and processing infrastructure specific to these conditions.

Every acre we plant in Louisiana is a step toward demonstrating what the American South can offer to the national industrial hemp economy — and what regenerative agriculture can mean for communities that have been promised less than they deserve from the land they farm.
